About Me

I played my first record to the public in March 1968, at the Cutting Edge pub in Barnsley, as one of the original DJs which made up DRM.

DRM was one of the first mobile disco companies in the country and very quickly developed a 'following' in many pubs in Yorkshire, especially in and around Halifax. In those days it was not unusual to find pubs which were packed to capacity on weekday nights! Pubs like The Blue Ball, Norland; The Travellers rest, Sowerby; The Sportsman, Norland; The White Hart, Ripponden; The Fleece, Elland and Ripponden were among many. Other areas were covered by DRM, Barnsley, Knottingley, Birmingham, Newcastle etc.

Having this kind of training was invaluable to me as it helped me to establish my own style and personality which I have carried on, and built upon, ever since. We were trained to be "Personality Jocks" and soon had our own individual followings! If you wanted "Dave the Rave" you went to see David, "Urf the Surf" was John, "King Arthur" was Richard, etc. If you wanted "Pete James" ....... you came to see me!

When DRM disbanded we all went seperate ways, I went to the clubs and fun pubs in Halifax & Huddersfield. It was here I learned the art of "mixing".

Although useful in clubs, it was not my style so I went to Corfu to work in the bars there. Here I was able to be myself and quickly made a name for myself working in bars like "The Britannia" and clubs like "The Scorpion" owned by Tony Blackburn.

During the Winters I went to Tenerife and worked the strip known as "Veronicas" in Playa de las Americas. Here I learned even more from the DJs there. This new material I took back to Corfu and became

  resident at "The Britannia"

Since then I have concentrated on

  functions back in Yorkshire doing

  Weddings, Anniversaries,

  Christmas/New Year parties,

  After-Show parties for local

  AM-Dram societies and numerous

  Golf Club and corporate events.

I have also been a presenter on

  various radio stations. Mainly

Hospital radio stations such as Hospital Radio Exeter and Radio

Calderdale, and community radio stations Spark FM and Phoenix Radio. I was also one of the founder members of "Sol Radio" in Tenerife, a pirate radio station which became the main English Radio station on the island.

I have recently been accepted as an actor with "Skulduggery", a nationwide Murder Mystery Company.

I've just been an "Extra" (or "Supporting Artist", as they call it, for a BBc drama to be shown in July 2009. They transformed me into a "Scruffy Bloke"! What a difference! Top marks to the make-up department! To view some pics, click here.
